About us

Helping parents understand children’s short-sightedness

Myopia Management Clinics helps parents understand children’s short-sightedness and explore myopia management services across the UK and Ireland.

We provide educational information and a directory of independent clinics. Assessment, treatment recommendations and ongoing care are provided by your chosen eye care professional.

Who runs this site

Myopia Management Clinics is run and maintained by optometrists registered with the General Optical Council (GOC). Our guides, treatment information and risk check are written and reviewed by GOC-registered optometrists.

The clinic directory is independent. Listing a clinic is not a recommendation or endorsement, and your child’s assessment and care are provided by the eye care professional you choose.

What we do

  • Explain myopia and the treatments available in plain English
  • Offer a free 2-minute myopia risk check
  • List over 1,500 opticians that offer myopia management, searchable by postcode, Eircode or town

What we don’t do

  • We are not a clinic and don’t examine, diagnose or treat children
  • We don’t recommend a specific treatment for your child
  • We don’t endorse or guarantee any individual clinic

How clinics are listed

Listings are compiled from publicly available information, including practices’ own websites and manufacturers’ practice locators. Every clinic can have a free basic listing. Some clinics pay for an enhanced listing, which is clearly labelled “Featured clinic”. Paying for a listing doesn’t mean we have assessed or endorse that clinic.

Details can change, so please check directly with the practice which treatments they offer and what they cost. You can check that an optometrist or dispensing optician is registered on the General Optical Council register in the UK, or with CORU in Ireland.

Where our information comes from

Our treatment guides are written for parents and draw on published sources such as the European Medicines Agency, the MHRA, NICE, the College of Optometrists and the Association of Optometrists. Where we quote figures, we link to the source. Our content is general information, not medical advice.
