Overnight Ortho-k Contact Lenses N.Ireland

Orthokeratology, often referred to as Ortho-K, brings a touch of magic to vision correction. Imagine special, overnight contact lenses that work their wonders while your child sleeps. These lenses have a gentle touch, subtly reshaping the cornea – that clear dome at the front of their eyes. Just like slipping in any other lens, it’s painless and easy. When morning comes and they take off the lenses, their vision is set for perfection throughout the day! It’s like a dream come true – clear vision without the need for glasses or regular contact lenses. The secret? Keep wearing them every night during sleep – it’s that simple!

But that’s not all. Ortho-K goes beyond ordinary vision correction. It’s also a frontrunner in myopia control. Recent research suggests that Ortho-K can potentially slow down the progression of myopia by about 50%. In other words, it’s not just about fixing vision for the day – it’s about steering the course of your child’s eye health for the future. The path to clearer, brighter days starts with Ortho-K – the lenses that work like magic while they sleep.

Advantages of Overnight Ortho-k Contact Lenses

  • Easy to Use

One of the standout advantages of Ortho-K is the freedom it provides during the day. After wearing the lenses overnight, your child won’t need to wear glasses or contact lenses during waking hours. This can be particularly advantageous for active children who enjoy sports, outdoor activities, or simply the convenience of clear vision without eyewear.

  • Comfortable

Created with precise mapping technology, ortho-k lenses are custom-fit to the eyes, thus ensuring optimal comfort. An initial adjustment period of 1 week is quite normal.

  • Reversible

The alterations to the corneal shape brought about by these lenses are not permanent. Therefore, in the event that patients decide to undergo laser refractive surgery, they have the option to discontinue lens usage. Consequently, the cornea will naturally return to its original shape. This dynamic feature paves the way for more optimal laser outcomes.

Benefits of Ortho-k Contact lenses

  • Your child will see clearly for school, sports and other recreational activities without glasses getting in the way

  • Children from ages 6-14 have been shown to prefer wearing ortho-k to spectacles, rating their overall vision, appearance, ability to participate in activities and satisfaction as higher with ortho-k

  • Unlike conventional daytime contact lenses, ortho-k provides the advantage of overnight wear, simplifying lens care and supervision for parents within the home environment.
